In this role, you will be responsible for the innovative design and integration of critical sub-systems (power generation, carbon capture, etc.) to realize the company’s core technology. You will follow best practices, devising PFD & P&ID with a focus on design for assembly, to achieve the best outcomes. You will be expected to work independently, implementing the engineering method across all aspects of your work. You will work closely with other modeling, electrical, control, and test engineers to cost-effectively create and validate detailed process specifications and operation characteristics following the engineering design process. You will also be responsible for generating engineering documents (PFDs, P&IDs, FDS, GAs, etc) and interfacing with external partners around their discussion. In this role, you will face two very distinct environments: an R&D environment with highly custom demands; and an industrial environment, well standardized, with built-to-last demands. At Noble Thermodynamic we pride ourselves on an all-hands-on-deck approach; You will be expected to participate in the test system design, assembly, and operation when necessary. This role demands a team-spirited individual, eager autodidact, able to lead, coordinate and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and assist on multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities

- Prepare and produce technical drawings including facility layouts and construction drawings that showcase the process piping plan.
- Prepare mechanical equipment/instrumentation/piping: packaged equipment/instrumentation/piping specifications and data sheets, and purchase recommendations.
- Coordinate with the rest of the engineering team (e.g. mechanical, electrical, etc.) to create and validate detailed process specifications and operation characteristics.
- Interface with external EPC firms, vendors, project partners, etc. and ensure all projects follow approved designs and plans.
- Execute HAZOP analysis as required.
- Create and maintain internal specifications, work instructions, and job aids.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering field from an accredited institution with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- 5+ years of design experience in process piping mechanical systems for Oil & Gas, Chemical or EPC industries.
- Demonstrated experience using plant design software (e.g. PDMS, COMOS, AutoCAD), and following relevant industry standards or design codes (e.g. ASME, PIP, ISA).
- Demonstrated applied knowledge of fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
- Experience designing systems using compressed air, chilled water, specialty gasses, and cryogenic liquids.
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical systems including, but not limited to; Heat Exchangers (shell/tube, plate/frame, brazed fin), Chillers, Cooling Towers, Compressors, process gas/fluid systems, Air Handling Units, Pumps, Control Valves and Instrumentation, Hazardous Exhaust, Heat Recovery Systems.
